Marg Moroney

MNZAC Qualified counsellor since 2002 and qualified Child Play Therapist since 2011.

Marg provides counselling for both adults and children, and families with appointments available in Westport and Greymouth.

She is registered to provide counselling or play therapy with ACC Sensitive Claims, Ministry of Social Development, Victim Support, Cancer Society, a number of Employment Assistance Programmes (Stratos, OCP, Workplace Support) and several community based organisations.

Marg began her journey as a counsellor 30 years ago, while working for Relationships Aotearoa as a counsellor and tutor. She continued her counselling journey by completing a professional Diploma in Counselling qualification (three years of training), graduating in 2002, and then going on to work as a Social Worker in schools for many years.

Marg has a special interest in working therapeutically with children. In 2011 she completed her initial training in Child Centred Play Therapy (ChildPlayWorks NZ). This was followed in 2016 by a Certificate in Child Centred Play Therapy from the National Institute for Relationship Enhancement (NIRE) in the USA. She was then fortunate to be invited to continue her studies towards the certificate in Child Centred Play Therapy Supervision. Currently Marg is also participating in a play therapy research programme being undertaken by the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Tennessee USA.
